What Is NDIS Plan Management?

Plan management is the financial management of your NDIS plan. A plan manager acts as an intermediary between you, your providers, and the NDIA — handling the money side so you don't have to.

There are three ways your NDIS plan can be managed: NDIA-managed (the agency pays providers directly, but you're limited to registered providers only), plan-managed (a plan manager like MediHealth Connect handles payments and you can use registered and unregistered providers), or self-managed (you manage everything yourself, including paying providers and claiming from the NDIA).

Plan management gives you the best of both worlds — financial administration is handled for you, but you keep the freedom to choose any provider.

Invoice Processing and Provider Payments

We receive invoices from your providers, verify they're correct and within NDIS Price Guide rates, and pay them on your behalf. You don't have to chase payments or deal with billing disputes — we handle it.

We track your spending across every budget category — Core, Capacity Building, and Capital. You receive regular financial statements showing what's been spent, what's committed, and what's remaining. No surprises at the end of your plan period.

NDIS Claims Processing

We submit payment requests to the NDIA portal and manage the claims process end to end. If there's a claim issue, we resolve it directly with the NDIA.

Provider Rate Verification

We check that every invoice is charged within the NDIS Price Guide rates. If a provider has overcharged, we query it before paying. This protects your funding from being eroded by billing errors.

Financial Guidance

While we can't provide financial advice, we can help you understand your budget utilisation patterns. If you're tracking towards underspending or overspending, we'll flag it early so you and your support coordinator can make adjustments.

Freedom of choice. Plan management means you can use any NDIS provider — registered or unregistered. This gives you access to a broader range of services, including sole traders and smaller providers who may not hold NDIS registration.

No financial admin. You don't have to pay invoices, submit claims, or track budgets. We do all of that for you.

Integrated with your other services. If you also use MediHealth Connect for support coordination, community nursing, or daily living support, your plan manager already has visibility of your services. This integration reduces errors and improves coordination.

Separate funding. Plan management has its own budget allocation in your NDIS plan. It doesn't reduce the funding available for your other supports.

How to Get Started

If your NDIS plan includes plan management funding, you can choose MediHealth Connect as your plan manager at any time. There's no lock-in period and you can switch plan managers whenever you want.

Do you provide financial advice?
